It’s hard to explain in words what 2018 was like. My busiest year doing what I love. There were so many surprises, so many challenges, and so many breathtaking moments that I faced in which I had the opportunity to capture. 73 photoshoots. Three different countries. Shoots in Duluth, Colorado, Wisconsin. High school seniors, weddings, branding shoots. Lots of laughter, lots of tears, crazy messy apartment space during the busy months, too many “favorites’ to count, so much time spent at Parallel Coffee editing, and my favorite…getting engaged!

My goal when shooting is to capture the rawest of moments, less posed, more real. For over 30+ high school senior sessions, we spent the two hours of their shoot laughing, and exploring Minneapolis, St. Paul, and even Taylors Falls! Taking a candid, playful approach to capturing my subjects is what keeps me excited about shooting.

In addition to shooting high school seniors, I also spent a lot of time in 2018 working with some amazing brands that are so special to me.

At the beginning of the year, I took a month long adventure to Bali, where I shot for Indigo Luna. Indigo Luna’s founder, Loviisa is one of the most delightful, kind, and thoughtful person that I’ve ever met. Her brand crafts the most beautiful swimwear, yoga clothes, and comfy loungewear that is environmentally conscious in every way, from the packaging to the fabric dyes themselves. Please - next time you need a swimsuit, buy from her. Her swimsuits are now the only ones that I wear!

Bria Hammel Interiors is another favorite brand that I’ve continued to work with. Just take a look through their Instagram - it’s jaw dropping gorgeous. Shooting lifestyle sessions for their blog and Instagram throughout the year always leaves me wanting to buy a pretty house and decorate it in…actually just hire them to decorate it.

On top of my Bali adventure - I had the opportunity to shoot in a few other far flung places of the world! Casey (my Fiancé) and I jetted off to Nepal in July where he was the best man, and I the photographer of one of our best friends Nepali wedding! Afterwards, we decided to fly to Malaysia bringing me so close to Bali, back to where I started at the beginning of the year!

I took a few days over the Christmas break to look back through all of the galleries I sent out from 2018. These are a few of my favorites. So many moments!!

P.S. - I’d love to know which are your favorites!
